FABLE, PLEASE HIRE ME
Hello, I'm Sam, and I am the candidate you are looking for. I love writing over-the-top, and hopefully, witty fantasy stories. I have a penchant for a tasteful amount of fourth-wall-breaking, unreliable narrators, and pushing the interactive medium to new heights. I believe that my writing style is perfect for a Fable game, and I think my samples will showcase that.
Braised to perfection in the writing room of an comedy underwear company, I am an aspiring narrative designer and game writer with a specialization in crafting compelling characters and immersive stories. I am also a strong collaborator, thrive at both giving and receiving constructive feedback, and an expert in fostering strong cross-departmental relationships.
I believe that player-focused narratives in rich, deep, character-filled worlds are a major part of a successful game, and I want to bring that vision to life.
Below you will find some of my writing samples. If there’s something specific you are looking for. Please contact me at: samstefancast@gmail.com
WORK IN THE STYLE OF FABLE
A sampling of my best (Fable-esq) work for you to peruse.
Fantasy Screenplay
A fantasy, game-centric dialogue sample demonstrating creativity, effective use of voice, ability to write alongside gameplay elements, and concise characterization. It also features a very over-the-top knight.
Interactive Quest
A Twine-based branching quest sample showcasing reactive player choice, effective narrative design, and ambient worldbuilding. While this has a cyberpunk genre, it is a fun twist on an age-old Fair Tale.
Bureaucratic Fantasy Simulator
START HERE You are an agent of the Bureau of Fantastical & Arcane Affairs, or the BFAA for short. Your job is to inspect tombs and the poorly trained necromancers within, making sure all permits and such are in order before the hero arrives. This sample shows my ability to write humor and satire in a fantasy setting. This exists in only a flowchart form for now, but I am currently implementing it in Unreal as well.
